Francis Robert Cook was born September 14, 1922 in Cedar Fort, Utah. He died September 22, 2011 in Cedar Fort, Utah.
Funerals are never fun. But one thing I do like about them is all of the new stuff you learn about people. Grandpa Cook was a super hard working man. He loves horses and even raced some. He kept amazing journals of rainfall, weather, animals, selling animals, and so much more. He was a true cowboy. He loved to chase, catch, and tame wild mustangs. His father died when he was only a year old. His father was one of the first men in Utah to own a car, and was a very successful businessman.

This was at a family party a couple of years ago. It must have been windy!

This is so often where you would find Grandpa Cook, sitting at his dining room table, with family surrounding him, telling great horse stories and wanting to know what was going on in your life. Oh the stories Grandpa Cook could tell!

Some of my favorite stories about Grandpa Cook...
When Rett was young, Grandpa Cook loved to go to the auctions. Rett went along, as did many of the grandchildren. Once, Rett saw a horse come through the auction when he was really little, and yelled really loud "Horsey, Horsey, Horsey!".
Another time at the auction, Rett was twirling a tooth pick in his mouth and got it stuck. Grandpa Cook took out his pocket knife and helped Rett out of the predicament.
Grandpa Cook was hospitalized a few years ago. He had an infection. When he was in the hospital bed, one of his kids noticed a really sore looking toe. They asked what happened to it. Grandpa told them he was clipping his nails with horse hoof clippers and must have cut himself!
Once there was a lady typist he worked with who had a large wort on a finger and it made it hard for her to type. She said she was going to have to go get it taken off, and Grandpa said he'd do it for free. He got out his pocket knife and did it, and it never grew back, and she was tons better at typing!
Grandpa Cook loved breakfast and maple bars. Rett took us to get maple bars the morning after Grandpa died.
Grandpa Cook had a dog named Bobby once. K.T. Oslin came out with a song "Hey Bobby" in 1988 and everyone thought it was written just for Grandpa Cook and his dog.
