Crew Goes to Kindergarten

Crew had a Back to School Open House on Tuesday afternoon. He got to meet his teacher last year during Kindergarten Registration and he went to one afternoon of Kindergarten last Spring, when they did some testing and screening. So he's been to his classroom a couple of times before and met his teacher a few times as well. But we thought we'd take him again, just so he was comfortable. We took a few pictures of him in the classroom, but forgot to take one with his teacher, so we'll have to do that later this year.

Crew found his name next to the hook, where he can hang his back pack and coat.

He was super excited that there were balls and toys in the classroom!

He found his cubby. In it was a special treat! A package of berry fruit snacks that said "We are BERRY excited for you to be in kindergarten this year!"

Crew got to look all around in his new kindergarten class! With Drake by his side, of course!
Crew will be attending Harold B. Lee Elementary.

Crew was so excited for the first day of school! He was up and dressed at 7 am before Rett even left for work! He asked me constantly if it was lunch time yet so he could go catch the bus. Crew has been excited for Kindergarten for so long! He has been counting down the days for a couple of weeks. And we had to make him a calendar so he could x off the days as it got closer!

Crew wanted to do a little photo shoot since I had my camera out.
This one was an excited "I get to go to Kindergarten" Pose!

Our cute little Kindergartener!

Before we headed out to the bus, I asked Crew if we should say a little prayer to help him have a good day and not be scared. He told me that he wasn't scared, he was really excited! I said that maybe then he could say a prayer so that mommy didn't cry. So he did. Crew was so funny when we were waiting for the bus. We saw it turn the corner down the street, and I told him he'd better give me a hug and kiss. He ran over and said "Hurry, before they see me!". And Drake wanted one too, and he hurriedly gave him  a hug, then in the nicest way possible, pushed him away so that the kids on the bus wouldn't see him! Silly Crew. It made me laugh! And Drake was pretty funny too. When we were walking back down the driveway Drake said "Well now what am I gonna do? Crew's not here to play with!" It was cute. And kind of funny, since Crew's been going to preschool twice a week for two years now! And Drake is actually a great individual player. He doesn't mind at all playing by himself. But it was pretty funny that he was a little sad that Crew wasn't here. And it hasn't been bad so far, because he's only gone for three hours every afternoon. But in September, Drake will start pre-school, so on Mondays and Wednesdays the boys won't see each other from 9:30 till 3. Drake goes 9:30-12:30 and Crew goes 12:00-3:00, so they'll miss each other. Having to do separate lunches will be kind of weird too! Hopefully they'll be ok and won't miss each other too bad. And I'm really excited to have one on one time with each boy. I've had it with Drake since Crew started pre-school, but it'll be nice to have some with Crew as well.

Boys waiting for the boys!
Crew was so excited! And he knew how to wait until the bus driver waived him across the street!

And he's off!

When Crew got home, I asked him how school was. And he said it was good. It was a little hard to get all the information out of him. But he started talking about it more through the evening. He was so excited that they get a nutrition break, with lots of great, healthy snack food. He loved the recess! He can't wait for the first day they get to go to the computer lab and library. His teacher is wonderful. I have heard nothing but total praise about her. And Crew concurs that she is super cool. He told me that one of his classmates from pre-school was whining that they had to do learning every day now, and Crew told him that it was awesome that they get to! He LOVES school. And I know it's only been three days, but he can't wait to go every day! I hope he keeps his love of school, excitement about learning, and continues to make his education a priority in his life.

I really can't believe Crew is in Kindergarten. It seems like I just barely had the little guy! I'm so glad he  is so excited about going to school. It actually made it so much easier for me! So we got through a milestone in life. Our first day of Kindergarten for our first child! And we all survived it!

Handsome Boys

My boys are so cute! These pictures were taken right before Stake Conference where the boys were going to be singing with all the other primary children. So handsome. They don't wear these suits very often. They'd rather wear cowboy boots, belt buckles, white shirts, and khakis. But sometimes we convince them to wear them! I cannot believe how big our boys are! It's crazy. And today's probably not the best day for me to be writing about it, because Crew goes to school today. It's just kindergarten. But he's my first kiddo. And that's probably why it's 5 am and I can't sleep! Even though he doesn't go till noon! I'm nervous for him. And I'm sure it'll be great and he'll have a good time. But it's crazy. And I'm sure it's going to be harder for me than for him! They grow up so fast! They are such good boys. We love them so much. We are so happy when they are having fun and making good choices! We love when they are nice brothers to each other, nice friends to others, and listen to their mom & dad. Don't these pictures just make you want to hug them? At least that's how they make me feel! I'll keep you posted as to how the first day of kindergarten goes for Cruiser!

Centennial & Cheyenne

Zink won the Centennial Qual in Saratoga, Wyoming! YAY ZINK! We were so excited! Especially because we were there and Rett got to run Zink. He's been with Kenny & Marcy, so we haven't been able to see him do much for a while. And sitting there waiting for results to be posted on RTF or a phone call just isn't as fun as being there! We hauled our trailer out and camped at a cute little campground. The boys had a lot of fun. It was good to see Zink and even better to bring home a blue ribbon! We put Zink back on Kenny's truck before we picked up the ribbon though, so I didn't get any good pictures of that! But here are a couple of Rett running Zink in that Qual.

While we were there, everyone was really excited to see some bucks. It got Rett and the boys in the mood for bow season! These little guys are deer spotting experts. They love to take a turn in the binocs and get almost as excited as their dad when they seen antlers!

Zink & Libby (his sister) at Horsetooth Retriever Kennels

The next weekend Kenny ran Zink in the Qual in Cheyenne, and Zink took 4th. Which is still a great placing! We are so excited for the dog Zink is becoming and can't wait to see what else he will do! I am also so happy that Rett has come so far with his dogs. He's learned so much and did the basic puppy training with Zink. It's been so fun to see him love the sport so much! And I always love when I get to see his handsome smile from a great performance by one of his dogs!

Sage Family Reunion 2012

We had a fun family reunion with Kip's side of the family at Bear Lake. While we were there we visited the Minnetonka Cave. It was lots of fun. The boys kept asking if it was where Batman lives.

Uncle Scott had an awesome water fight with the boys. They played and screamed and shot water for I don't know how long with him. And Scott kept getting dud water guns, so finally gave up all together and just used cups to dump on them. The boys loved it that he played so long with them.

It was fun to see the Sage family and get to hang out, chat, and eat good food with everyone!

Mutton Busting at the Preston Night Rodeo

This story actually has to be told from the beginning. Rett was gone at work on a fire out of town. The Mutton Busting registration for this is on a Saturday morning, and you have to be there early because there are never enough spots. So I asked the boys if they wanted to go wait in line with me on a Saturday morning at 6:00. They said they did, so we waited in the rain for two hours. The rodeo is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and we had a family reunion to be at on Friday, so we had to get Thursday. When we got there at 6, there was already a pretty big line. The first people said they had gotten there at 4am! Crazies! But I can't really say anything, after all, I got up and took my boys early too. Needless to say, we got our Thursday night spots and the boys were thrilled to both get to ride this year.
We told the boys to hold on and not let go, that when the clown had to help them off the sheep, that is how they'd know they did really well. Crew did just that. And had a blast doing it! Watching him walk away makes me giggle. He's strutting his stuff and so proud of himself!
Drake had a little more trouble. The two other sheep in his shoot were jumping all over him, so before he even bucked out, he was a little unhappy. Then his sheep turned and ran straight into the crowd.

The Boys
We're grateful to have so many sweet family members who are close enough to support the boys. Teresa, TJ, and Megan all came up from Utah. We know the rest of the gang wanted to come as well, but family and work have to come first, so we completely understand that the other family members didn't make it. Kip and Deb also came with us that night. The boys loved having their family there to watch them and were so excited about the whole event!

We tried to get a family picture. And I guess we did get some. They just aren't the greatest pictures. But we have some and that helps remind us of the memory, so I'm ok with that. The first just has the boys playing with their gum and the second, they were pretty done for the night and wouldn't even attempt to smile or look at the camera.
