So we decided to load up the family and make the long trip to Texas. It was fun. We rented a mini van, which the boys were super excited about, and had a little more room than in one of our vehicles. It was a lot of driving, a few nights of which included Rett and I driving all night while the boys slept. But it was a great, fun, busy, and memory building trip. We headed to Texas first. Our destination was College Station/Navasota/Anderson area to visit Zink, who has been in training down there all winter. Rett got to spend the week training with Zink and Kenny. He had a good time and the boys and I found lots to do, including our piles of homework since we were skipping out on a whole week of school!
After we drove through Colorado and Texas, we stopped the first morning in Amarillo at the American Quarter Horse Association and Museum. It was a fun stop where we got to see and learn lots about horses.

Next we hit Fort Worth, where we visited the historic stockyards, livestock exchange, and the Cow Town Colosseum.
While in College Station we also visited the George Bush Museum. It was super neat and we learned a lot! Although the boys have said "We don't like museums" they did have a good time. The boys got to sit at the "President's Desk"! Not sure how "Presidential" they looked, but they liked it!
The boys and I spent one day in a little children's museum. It was amazing to me how much fun they had there just playing! They didn't want to go that morning and said "We don't like museums" but I think they liked this one a lot!
Whit loved this pond by one of the hotels we stayed in. And yes, he did make it in at one point! This was also the place where Whit discovered that fun looking dirt piles were often really fire ant homes and when you stomp on them, they are not very happy! His poor leg got tons of bites on it and he was a little hurt by their bad mannered lack of hospitality!
Whit discovered his bro's music players were super fun on this trip!

And naughty me, I didn't get pictures of Rett's week training or the Field Trial we got to attend.
After our week in Texas, we did another LONG drive to Arizona. We stopped along the way at my sister Janae's house and kind of surprised her and the family. It was a really fun stop for the boys. They got to do some swimming and play basketball. It was a great time. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures. But my excuse is a good one, because I ended up with a yucky stomach bug and sick most of the time at her house!
Next, we hit Phoenix and went to a Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers Spring Training Baseball game. It was hot, and Rett wasn't feeling too great by this day. (Our Stomach Bug was one of those gifts that keep on giving!!) But it was still a ton of fun and we're glad we got to go!
Our next stop was meeting Grandpa Kip and Grandma Debbie at the Grand Canyon. The boys thought it was amazing but we couldn't stop scaring Grandpa when they'd get too close to an edge!
Grandpa and Grandma took us to see some dinosaur tracks, eggs, and fossils. It was super neat!
The trip was without too much drama and the kids did really well considering how much driving we did. The poor rental car had 400 miles when we picked it up and 6000 when we dropped it off! But with these trips the goal is to build family unity and memories and I hope we were able to do some of that!
This was actually once we got back into Utah. The boys thought this little dust devil was super cool! We spent a couple of days with family in Utah and then headed back home. It was a great trip. But we were so very excited to be back home!
