New Dining Room Table

So we decided we were sick of all the tables we've gone through since we got married. The last one we had was bat height and we wanted a normal height one again. We thought we'd jump on the farm table bandwagon. We found a company in Utah that sounded like they had pretty good tables for a decent price. But long story short, we got the table home and it was not sturdy at all and I returned it and got my money back.

Then started our very long DIY table project!  Part of the reason it took so long was that we ended up using some rough hickory for the table top. So the boards weren't square at all! One end may have been six inches and the other ten. And Rett doesn't have tons of fancy woodworking tools, so we made do with what we had. Also, we wanted chunky legs, but they were very expensive. So we opted for a cross arm that was from a power line structure Rett had scrapped out and brought home. I think they made the table!

We love the finished product! It is super sturdy and weighs a ton! The bench was also handcrafted by my man. It was a lot of work. But should last a life time. And we made some great memories working together!
