Whit Bonked His Nose!

Well, he's a toddler. And he's into mischief. And he doesn't always have great balance or common sense. So when we heard him crying downstairs in Crew's room last night it was nothing unusual. But then Crew ran upstairs saying that Whit was bleeding all over really bad, I ran down to see what was going on. I am still not sure what he hit his poor little nose on! There's not tons in the room to begin with. But somehow, the poor guy bonked pretty hard. I couldn't decide if it looked super deep or not. So I texted my mom a picture and asked a neighbor nurse and they both said maybe you should take him in. Luckily, Preston has an urgent care that is open till 8 and it was only 7. So, I took him. They couldn't really see it because he was moving around so much, so they decided to give him a shot that would calm him down. And it did. It was hilarious. And I'm sad I didn't get a better video. But he just laid there giggling and reaching in the air. He tried to sit up, and couldn't. He was really good after that and they decided it had already started to heal well on its own, but just to be sure, they super glued it shut. When we got back he couldn't even walk without tipping over because he was a little too relaxed! He looked like a drunken sailor! It was so funny. This was my first urgent care visit for any of the boys. And it wasn't that bad because he was ok, I was just worried about it scaring. I am grateful I haven't had to deal with injuries more. It is no fun! But I'm glad the little guy is ok. He's a trooper. And it helped me stay calm that he wasn't crying or in tons of pain!

Whit Pictures

I've always wanted to do a super cute First Birthday photo shoot. But my photography skills aren't nearly as good as I imagine them. They are ok. And I'm happy with being able to take some semi decent pictures of my kiddos.

So, I attempted some with Whit. He was a little hard to control and keep in one place, but we managed a few cute ones. He really is a ham. And he makes some of the funniest faces.

When we brought out the cake for the cake smash portion of the pictures, he was so excited! And he was really delicate with the cake and one or two fingers at first. But as soon as he tasted the frosting, he was hooked! And it was so funny, because he just started taking bites of the cake right off the stand. It was really funny to watch, and would have made a great video! Oh, the little guy makes me laugh! And I'm so glad I made the time to do this. It was so much fun. For me to watch, for him to get to eat and make a mess, and for the pictures. And yes, he did end up eating EVERY bite of the cake! It's a good thing I made it so small!

Whit Turned 1!

Whitter Bug is One Year Old! I can't even believe it. But he is. He had his first birthday. And it was pretty low key. But a ton of fun. Mostly for his brothers, who were definitely more excited than anyone. Seeing that Whit didn't really know what was going on anyway. But he did figure out that birthday cake is YUMMY! He got a cute little rocking horse. And LOVED the strawberry buttermilk cake we made.

We cannot imagine life without Whit in our family. He is so much fun! He has a character all his own. He LOVES to play with his brothers. He LOVES to eat. And he LOVES feeling like a big boy and doing the things the big boys do. He likes to go downstairs and play with the big boys. He likes to carry around their footballs or little basketballs. He likes his naps. And he loves dirt and outside. He's been a pretty easy baby. He's never been the best sleeper, we'll let Drakey keep that victory. But he does pretty well. He is super content with anyone. People are always amazed that he is fine with pretty much anyone holding him. He loves to flirt and laugh and smile and jabber at people. And he LOVES attention. He has seven teeth. He started crawling at nine months, and was walking by 11 months. Whit  is a pretty big guy, compared to others his age. At his one year well visit he weighed 23 pounds, which was in the 54th percentile, and was 32 inches long, which was in the 97th percentile. He has just started giving big, open mouthed kisses, but reserves them only for special occasions. His Dad and brothers have worked very hard for the ones they have been given! Whit loves dogs. Porsche, our little six month old pup is his favorite! He gets so excited when Rett brings her in the house. And they get along great. Whit loves his blue soft blankie. And you can tell, just by being around him for a little while, what a happy guy he is. We sure love our little Whitter Bug!

The past year has flown by so incredibly fast. 2015 is going to be here before we know it! And we'll have an 8, 7, and 2 year old! We are so grateful for our healthy and happy boys!

NBA: Jazz vs Cavaliers

Crew LOVES basketball. He also loves NBA. He mostly loves Lebron James. So, when we saw that the Cleveland Cavaliers were coming to play the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City, we decided to give Crew an early Christmas present.

We didn't tell the boys ahead of time because we knew they would not be able to focus at school. We headed down to Salt Lake and the boys were so excited when we got there and told them what we were doing. We even gave Crew a new jersey, and were surprised to see lots of other Cavaliers gear on people. We had total nosebleed seats that were SO far away from the court, but the boys didn't mind. Crew was so stoked to see Lebron play in person! It was great. The game was very exciting as well. It was tied at 100 with 1 second left in the game and we thought for sure it was going into overtime when at the last moment, the Jazz got a basket! Crew was so funny and super sad that the Cavs lost.

After we got back to the car to drive home, Drake said he couldn't wait to get home and finish Christmas. Well, when we told him that the early Christmas was the game and a couple of gifts we gave them on the way and that we were going to wait for the rest of Christmas, he was SO mad. He called us liars and just couldn't get over it. Luckily he woke up the next morning and forgot all about it. It was a fun night and we're glad we were able to take the boys.

Here's a little recap of the game, which was so fun to watch!

Basketball

Crew was invited to play on a recreation basketball league with a group of boys from Preston. They were first and second graders. They played 8 games and only lost one. They were fantastic. And they had a great time. Crew really does love basketball and had previously decided he didn't want to play soccer this year. So we were glad for the opportunity to be able to play basketball with these cute boys during the fall. Their coach was very patient. The games were a lot of fun to watch. I will say, that this was WAY more exciting than t-ball and even better than soccer. I really liked the flag football the boys played last spring. But basketball is quickly becoming a favorite for this mom. I was so happy to see Crew doing something he has such a passion for and was really good at. It was fun to see his growth through the season and also, it was really fun to win! We'll be playing basketball again after the holidays. Way to go Crew, you are a star!

Drake's Note to Dad

I get to help in each of the boys classes once a week. It is a real treat. It makes me incredibly grateful for Rett's job and the luxury I have of being a stay at home mother so that I can spend time with the boys in their classrooms.

Last week, Drake's kindergarten class was learning about writing notes. The kids were asked to choose someone to write a note too. Drake was very sweet and wanted to tell his Dad thanks for working so hard. Rett had just come off a crazy weekend of over 35 hours straight, and not being at home for bedtime for 3 nights in a row. It was so thoughtful of Drake to come up with the idea all by himself. And I am so glad I have a boy that is so grateful for the hard work that his Dad puts in for all of us. I am also grateful for how hard Rett works for us. I honestly don't know of a harder working man. It's one of my favorite things about him. He works so hard to provide for his family. We are so blessed. So I had to preserve this little school assignment to remind all of us how blessed we are to have such a hard working Father and Husband, and to have children who are grateful for that!

Halloween

We had another Halloween Party that a couple friends and I threw together. We did it last year too, but this year hosted it at our house. We counted about 135 people! It was a little wild and pretty packed. But it was a lot of fun. Rett and I dressed up as Ron Burgundy and Victoria Corningstone from Anchorman. Rett rocked the stache! Crew wanted to be a clown and Drake a pirate. Whit was our little devil. We even did a little Fear Factor Game and I made jello worms and some other nasty little treats. The kids thought it was a little creepy and tons of fun!

Minions

Crew had a Literary Pumpkin assignment at school this year. The deal was, the pumpkins didn't want to get carved so they disguised themselves as book characters. Crew wanted to do a Minion from the Meet the Minions Book that is based off of the Despicable Me Movie. And since Crew was doing it, Drake wanted to do it as well. Then a friend mentioned that we should take Drake's to the Preston Library for their pumpkin contest. And Drake won first place and got $10! They had tons of fun making their pumpkins, and I was so excited about how they turned out!

Pumpkin Patch Pictures

I took the boys to a pumpkin patch to take some pictures. They were so fun with Whit. As long as he had a little pumpkin in his hands, he was totally happy! He took some great pictures, and I was even able to get a couple of decent ones of Crew and Drake. All together is another story! They were too hard to control with all three at the same time. But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pictures of Whit! SO stinking cute, even if I am a little biased! I love this little guy and how happy he is! What did we ever do without him! I cannot imagine our family without the little guy!

USU Homecoming

We went to the USU v Air Force Homecoming Football game. It was lot's of fun. The boys got to see Big Blue again. And the game was great! The boys are so into sports right now, that these kinds of events are a ton of fun. And I'm loving that we get to do things that we can enjoy with the boys. It is fun to see them grow up and find things that they are so excited about. Go Aggies!
